Register for Smart911
Metro has a new enhancement to the 911 system called Smart911. This is a service free to the community that allows citizens to provide personal and family data to 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency to ensure quick and effective responses from emergency workers. We are working to create awareness of this service within the city of Nashville so that citizens may register and ensure that themselves and their family members will be protected in case of any emergency.
How it works:
· Any citizen can register at www.smart911.com and create a profile that include their family members, physical descriptions, pictures, pets, household data, medical conditions and other rescue-related data. All household landlines and cell phones are also verified to the home address.
· Anytime 9-1-1 is called from any of the registered phones, the dispatcher and first responders will immediately have the household profile available so that they may respond to the emergency quickly and effectively.
Ways in which this is beneficial:
· Missing Child: Police will no longer need to take the time to visit the family, obtain a picture and distribute it through the proper channels. With the Smart911 profile, the child’s picture and physical description is immediately available for dissemination as an Amber Alert
· Home fire: There is the option to indicate where bedrooms are located, how many family members are in the home, and any pets so that firefighters can be sure to rescue everyone safely
· Medical conditions or allergies: In cases such as an allergy to food or medication, asthma or other conditions, first responders will have this information immediately so that they can treat the individual appropriately.
The information provided in a profile is 100% private and secure and is only made available to 9-1-1 operators when they are called. Each individual is able to determine how much information they would like to include in their profile.
We are excited as we look forward to working with the students and families. Each child is very special, and we value this precious opportunity to be a part of the children's lives. The school is committed to providing each child with effective learning experiences, which will provide the foundation for life long learning.
